Raw green beans and bean plants contain phytohaemagglutinin (lectin) causing severe GI distress. Cooked beans safer but still not ideal for cats.
Symptoms within 1-4 hours
Severe vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain
Remove plant material. Call vet if raw beans or plants eaten.
Severe vomiting, bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain, lethargy
Call vet if raw beans ingested. May need supportive care and fluids.
